Jim Wayne began cutting hair as a teenager because it was a good way to meet girls and enjoyed making them feel special. Jim's talent landed him at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in San Francisco for special training. By the age of 19, Wayne was transferred to the coveted Los Angeles location of Vidal Sassoon Academy where he has an apprentice with to some of the nations top stylists while honing his own craft. It was not long before Vidal Sassoon, himself noticed that Jim Wayne also had a flair for the business side of hairdressing. Sassoon subsequently offered Wayne a job before he had even finished his studies.

By twenty-two, Wayne was not only teaching the world-renowned techniques, but he was also running Sassoon schools of America. During this time, Wayne over saw all management aspects including staffing and directing of the schools, which was comprised of six locations in the united states and eight hundred staff and students. By twenty-three, Wayne was overseeing construction of the new school in Santa Monica, CA. Wayne also revamped the academies curriculum, which is still implemented today. In 1988, Wayne took over management of the Rodeo Drive salon, in addition to supervising the American division of Vidal Sassoon. Jim Wayne also worked closely with chemists in the development of two product lines- Sassoon's Gray Line and Pro Line- both of which are currently sold on the market. After fourteen years of contributing to the Vidal Sassoon academy and hair salons, Wayne decided it was time to express his own vision.

In 1993, he opened the full service Jim Wayne salon in Beverly Hills. Jim Wayne is a consummate teacher who provides ongoing training for his salons team of skilled technicians. Jim was trained by the best," says Beverly Sassoon. "The work his salon produces reflects the Sassoon technique at it's finest." That commitment to education extends to the client as well. Clients leave the salon with the knowledge and ability to easily manage their style at home. "At our salon, the philosophy is simple", says Wayne. "The focus is on the clients and the health of the hair comes first."
